Fossil-free value chains require railways

The climate challenges are both local and global. As a company, we choose to see and take advantage of the opportunities and profits of a sustainable transition. SweMaint's role for an efficient, sustainable, climate-smart transport chain is also becoming increasingly important, and the future will soon be met with, among other things, locomotive maintenance as a new business area and sharpened organization. As the largest in the Nordics in maintenance services for rail freight traffic, we have a great responsibility towards all our stakeholders – owners, customers, suppliers, society and not least the climate. It is a responsibility we take on with great determination and conviction.

Since the start in 1905, we have systematically developed our offer based on a focus on and responsiveness to customer benefit. This gives us a unique platform to make rail freight transport an even clearer and more competitive alternative.

During the year, both efficiency improvement work and the creation of better support and tools for employees in IT and production technology continued. The company's strategy to be able to work more long-term and to incorporate sustainability aspects in all respects is also renewed.

Reporting of the sustainability work in SweMaint AB 2023/2024 constitutes the company's statutory sustainability report. Since the 2019/2020 business year, the company has been reporting inspired by the Global Reporting Initiative to raise the level of ambition and pace. In line with the EU's new sustainability directive, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), we are now changing our focus from GRI to CSRD, and next year we will gradually start introducing parts of CSRD. For the 2026–27 financial year, we will report fully in accordance with this directive
